Plimmerton Boating Club Regatta

Including the 2020 Z Class Championship


Z Class Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd February 2020

All other classes Sunday 2nd February 2020


ORGANISING AUTHORITY: Plimmerton Boating Club


1.0 Rules

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing

1.2 The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply to all un-ballasted Centreboard and Open Yachts.

1.3 The yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part V Category C shall apply to all Trailer Yachts and Sports Trailer Yachts.

1.4 For protests where only a Rule of Part 2 or Rule 31 is alleged to have been broken, an arbitration hearing will be offered prior to any formal hearing.


2.0 Eligibility and Entry

2.1 The regatta is open to Centreboard Class, Open Yachts, Sports Trailer Yachts and Trailer Yachts.

2.2 To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew member’s national authority.

2.3 Entries for the Z class will be taken on the Saturday 1st February 2020 all other classes on February 2nd 2020.


3.0 Entry Fees

3.1 Junior Classes $10-00 per boat.

Senior Centreboard & Open Yachts except Z class $20-00 per boat

Trailer Yachts and Z class $30-00 per boat


4.0 Schedule

4.1 Registration and entry 0830 hours to 0930 hours

NB. The Organising Authority, for starting purposes, reserves the right to combine classes. Combined classes and their warning flag will be advised on the Notice Board prior to 10.00 hours. Combined classes may be scored using a Yardstick Handicap System.

4.2 Briefing for Z Class 0930 hours Saturday 1st February 2020. For all other classes a briefing 0930 hours Sunday 2nd February 2020.

4.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1030 hours.

4.4 For all classes except Z class 4 races are scheduled.

4.5 For Z class 7 races are scheduled.


5.0 Sailing Instructions

5.1 Copies of the Sailing Instructions will be available at registration


6.0 Racing Areas

6.1 On the waters adjacent to Plimmerton Boating Club.

7.0 The Courses

7.1 Courses may be triangular and or windward/leeward.


8.0 Penalty System

8.1 For all classes, rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.


9.0 Scoring

9.1 The Low Points scoring system of Appendix A will apply except as changed below.

9.2 For all classes except the Z class, 4 races are scheduled, of which 1 race is required to be completed to constitute a series. A boat’s series score will be the total of all her race scores.

9.3 For Z class, 7 races are scheduled, of which 2 races are required to constitute a series.

9.4 For Z class when 5 or more races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.


10.0 Prizes

10.1 Prize-giving Presentation after racing will be held at approximately 1600 hours or after all matters are decided.


10.0 Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
